How It Works

Gestures

DOTKey utilizes seven gesture types involving taps or swipes of a finger or fingers. With these seven gesture types DOTKey is able to recognize nearly 200 unique gestures, from which we have selected the most efficient and intuitive to represent the actions performed on a traditional keyboard.

Mappings

To ensure that DOTKey would be fast and efficient, we first tested the comfort level and sequential speed of each gesture combination. We then used this information to design a mapping of gestures to letters and actions that considered both speed and intuitiveness.
Capital letters, special characters, and numbers each have their own mode. To enter or exit the mode there is a specific gesture that functions similar to shift or control on a keyboard.

Every time you use the             gesture, DOTKey calibrates where your fingers are. This eliminates errors caused by drift that occurs when typing on a touch surface without looking.
